Start the New Year off right with one of our exciting art-making courses that begin this month. From courses in painting or drawing (and more) to creating art with your little one, we’ve got something for everyone this winter.

Here are some of the amazing courses designed to ensure 2019 is one creative year:

Introduction to Everything
Can’t decide between painting, drawing, printmaking or sculpture? We’ve got the perfect course for you. In Introduction to Everything you can try, well, everything. Explore a new art-making technique each week to help uncover your hidden artistic talents.

Drawing Explorations: Large-Scale Portraiture
Moved by the vibrant, large-scale portraits and collages in our exhibition Mickalene Thomas: Femme Noires? In this course, learn some of the line and collage techniques that make these large-scale portraits pop. This course is for art beginners, ages 16 and up.

Impressionism Today
Amazed by all the new buildings changing the city skyline? So were French Impressionists in the late 1800s. Inspired by our upcoming exhibition Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro and more, this course series invites you to follow in the footsteps of the Impressionists and create masterpieces (painting, photography and watercolour) influenced by our changing Toronto cityscape.

Colour Harmony
Does pink go well with green? Dive into colour theory with inspiration from the AGO Collection as you explore the power and joy of colour in this course for painters and non-painters.

We’ve got courses for mini-Monets too:

Futuristic Cities
Does your little one love trains, bridges or skyscrapers? Also inspired by our upcoming exhibition Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro and more, which reflects on a changing cityscape, kids (ages 6–7 or 8–10) will paint, draw, sculpt their own futuristic urban landscapes.

Side by Side
In this course, little ones (ages 2–3 or 4–6) with their parents, grandparents or caregivers can explore their creative side and learn new skills including drawing, painting and making sculptures – all while creating memories and having fun!
