A year ago today, Stephan Jost joined the AGO as its new Michael and Sonja Koerner Director, and CEO. Coming from the Honolulu Museum of Art, where he was the Director for five years, we wondered how he would adjust – because come on, who would trade beaches for snowbanks? As it turns out, he’s feeling a lot of love for the 6ix, and is in his element at the AGO.
Stephan showed vision and leadership right off the bat and you can already see the results – more art! Next time you are at the AGO, marvel at Michael Snow’s Walking Woman sculptures, wander past Inuit sculptures in Walker Court and check out our newly installed Modernist galleries on Level 1. Stephan’s most visible project to date is Look:Forward, a major reinstallation of the AGO’s remarkable Collection.
