The AGO has you covered with a week full of romantic ideas.
What better place than an art gallery to fall in love? Even our architecture is designed with romance in mind. Frank Gehry purposefully made the famous spiral staircase to be more narrow in certain points to draw people closer.
Do something different this Valentine’s Day and come to the AGO for a date they’ll never forget – whether it be on a first date or a 50th anniversary celebration. One day isn’t enough: we’re celebrating all week from February 10–17*.
Not feeling romantic? We’re here for you. How about an afternoon or evening out to bask in the company of your closest pal-entines?
Here are all the things Cupid has cooked up for you at the AGO:
Let our Gallery Guides take you on a romantic journey via one of our Highlight Tours or 10-minute “On the Dot” pop-up art talks. They’ll be making stops at specially selected works of art inspired by love. For more information about our tours and talks or for scheduling visit us here.

Bringing together 750 unique artworks on one Toronto map currently displayed in our Community Gallery, participants will consider how public art over the past 50 years has transformed Toronto. Valentines for a Cause
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the whole family on Sunday, February 12 from 1–4 pm in the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre. The AGO is partnering with the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) in conjunction with of Love Positive Women: Romance Starts at Home! (LPW). LPW creates a platform for individuals and communities to engage in public and private acts of love and caring for women living with HIV. Each family will have the opportunity to make cards that will be sent to women living with HIV globally.
Mindful Movement in the Galleries
What’s the perfect solo date? Practice some self-care starting on February 14 through March 7 from 2–3 pm by learning to slow down the body and mind. Be inspired by a selection of artworks in the galleries each week and respond to them with slow yoga movements and meditative techniques. This class will inform a new way of looking at art and centering within our unique gallery spaces. Register here.
