Monet’s Garden: a mystical cocktail experience

October 31st, 2016

FRANK restaurant’s well-known bartender, Stephen Gaessler, is responsible for creating the most unique art-inspired cocktails in the city, including one of our current favourites: Monet’s Garden.

Stephen mixes his love of mixology with his passion for extending the art experience into the AGO’s restaurant. For each major exhibition, he plans FRANK’s cocktail menu by reflecting on the themes of the show, often exploring facts about artists and their surroundings.

Each cocktail has been meticulously researched, carefully crafted, and is above all else, absolutely delicious. For the AGO’s current exhibition, Mystical Landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, Van Gogh & more, Stephen has developed five extraordinary drinks, each with its own distinct flavours.

For Monet’s Garden, Stephen was inspired by Claude Monet and his 1907 painting Water Lilies (Nymphéas). The result: a cocktail that will transport you right into the artist’s famous garden at Giverny.

Book a ticket to Mystical Landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, Van Gogh & more and make a reservation at FRANK to keep the mystical experience going. And make sure you say hi to Stephen if you see him!

About Stephen:
Stephen Gaessler has been with the AGO since November 2008. He is always interested in perfecting his craft, most recently completing a two-week advanced mixology course at the European Bartending School in Stockholm, a city renowned for high-end bartending.
