We’re looking for 100 bee enthusiasts to participate in a public performance. The piece, entitled Your Temper, My Weather by artist Diane Borsato, will explore the effects of collective meditation and create a public platform upon which to consider the health and temper of bees and their keepers, as well as the policies and environmental conditions that affect our shared future.
The beekeepers will perform a simple, collective act of meditation in Walker Court during Scotiabank Nuit Blanche on the evening of Oct. 5, 2013, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The event is expected to attract a large audience!
To participate, you must be a beekeeper, an aspiring beekeeper, a bee enthusiast or someone who has studied or practised beekeeping at any time in the past. An openness to art and to participating in guided collective meditation will also be needed. No other performance experience will be necessary. Participants will be seated in comfortable chairs, and have breaks to stretch and walk around during the duration of the performance. There will not be any live bees featured in the performance. Food will be provided. Performers will be expected to take part in one short dress rehearsal and the evening performance on Oct. 5.
