Wangechi Mutu’s work boldly explores the contradictions of female and cultural identity, drawing the viewer into conversations about beauty, consumerism, colonialism, race, and gender. Her representations of the human form are disturbing and transfixing, at once utterly complex and strikingly direct.

I find the work very stimulating and inspiring. They are thoughtful and beautifully executed. I thank you for the video, which exposes us to a very real woman and artist with strong passionate ideas. I am very thankfull for her plain direct conversation that is void of art speak. Her work and her manner are refreshing.
