The Annex Quartet – Sunday Concerts at the AGO

The AGO is partnering with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) to host Sunday afternoon concerts in the AGO’s Walker Court. Talented RCM students will present weekly performances right through spring 2010.

This Sunday’s concert, on October 11, features the Annex String Quartet, with Melissa Wilmot, violin; Teddy Wiggins, violin; Yunior Lopez, viola; and Peter Cosbey, cello. Recognized for their versatile and eclectic repertoire of music, members of quartet are current and former students of the Glenn Gould School at RCM.

Recent performances include recitals in RCM’s Mazzoleni Hall, live radio broadcasts on Classical 96.3, an all-Russian concert at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, and an invitation to perform at the Haydn 2009 Festival in Montreal.

The quartet’s repertoire includes works by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Janacek, Mendelssohn, Piazzolla, and Shostakovich, and also performs new music and alternative, rock, and jazz. The Annex Quartet is currently under the guidance of violist Steven Dann, cellist Bryan Epperson, and pianist Andrew Burashko. 

All concerts are held in the AGO’s Walker Court from 1:30 to 2:15 pm, and are free with admission.
