The new ramp will indeed be at a less steep angle than the ramp in our old main entrance. Now that the foundation for the new ramp has been poured, we will be able to test how a wheelchair navigates the slope. We welcome feedback such as this as structural elements of the transformed AGO begin to emerge. The issues you raise help us to identify possible shortcomings and work to rectify them before the transformed AGO opens to the public. The previous ramp in the main hall and outside had such a steep angle that I had a difficult time pushing my Mom up and down in her wheelchair a few years ago! It always surprises me how advanced we as Canadians are in our consideration for wheel chairs (over the rest of the world), and at the same time how inadequate these considerations are. Architects should always try out their designs before implementing them! Re new ramp
I certainly hope that this ramp has a more manageable angle. The previous ramp in the main hall and outside had such a steep angle that I had a difficult time pushing my Mom up and down in her wheelchair a few years ago! It always surprises me how advanced we as Canadians are in our consideration for wheel chairs (over the rest of the world), and at the same time how inadequate these considerations are.
